Nine fire engines and about 50 firefighters quickly contained a three-acre wildfire burning at E. Dunne Avenue near Finley Ridge just north of Henry Coe State Park.

The initial call came in shortly before 2:15 p.m. today from personnel staffing the Copernicus lookout near Mt. Hamilton.

Smoke could be seen throughout South County.

At 2:45 p.m., firefighters on the scene said the blaze had consumed about two to three acres with a slow rate of burn.

Eight CalFire engines and one Santa Clara County Fire Department engine responded to the blaze. Two air tank planes filled with water along with a Cal Fire helicopter.

At 3 p.m., the fire was officially contained.

Cal Fire Capt. Matt Streck said both agencies handled the call in a swift manner.

“We had an aggressive response from both agencies,” Streck said. “We handled it well.”

Streck said the origin of the fire is under investigation.
