Fire crews responded to a vegetation fire that broke out around 4:30 p.m. Wednesday near Christmas Hill Park in Gilroy, according to Jim Crawford, battalion chief for the South Santa Clara County Fire District and CalFire.

No one was injured during the fire, which burned up two acres in 35 minutes before the blazes were put out. The flames were concentrated near the northern area of the park in the Uvas Creek bed, Crawford said.

Seven engine companies were present at the height of the incident, including units from the City of Gilroy, South Santa Clara County Fire District and CalFire. A number of firefighters remained on scene for two hours, according to Crawford.

The cause of the fire is undetermined and is still under investigation, according to Crawford.
