Gilroy – Five Star Motors gained first place in the Men’s CCC League first-half pennant chase Monday with a 13-5 victory over Chris Costello Electric at Las Animas Park.

The Motormen expanded a 6-5 lead with a seven-run outburst in the bottom of the sixth inning. Jeff Wong roped a two-run home run, J. P. Perez a two-run triple for the winners in the sixth. Phil Ruiz homered and Rhino Souza, Greg Lugo and Jaime Hernandez each mustered three hits for Five Star (3-0). Mark Madalena and Gary Tognetti each went 3-for-3 for Chris Costello Electric.

The Cali Boys slipped into second place at 3-1 with a 19-7 loss to the Hit Men.

The Hit Men (2-1) erased a 3-0 deficit with eight runs in the second inning. Henry Quistian hit a two-run homer and Ernie Badillo and Jeff Stuck socked triples in the Hit Men rally. Badillo added a run-scoring triple in a six-run fourth.

Rod Melching collected three doubles for the Hit Men. Ted Zanella went 3-for-4 and Alex Gonzalez scored three runs for the Cali Boys.

The Desperados moved to 2-2 with an 11-6 nod over Campbell’s Towing.

Trailing 6-2 after five, the Desperados pulled even in the sixth, keyed by a two-run triple from Justin Barroza. Lorenzo Nino, Mike Faria and Justin Tandy each tripled in a five-run seventh for the Desperados.

Men’s C

DS Builders (4-0) remained atop the Men’s C League Monday at Christmas Hill Park with a 17-2 decision over the Las Animas Sweepers.

Jesus Gaona, Justin Nicholson and Eric Gonzalez each stroked a double and two singles for the league leaders.

Kyle Kretz scored three runs and Chris Thomas bagged a three-run triple for DS Builders. Joe Lovecchio and Emiliano Arde scored the Las Animas Sweeper runs.

BM Construction remained in pennant contention at 3-1 with a 21-7 victory over Keading Performance,

BM Construction rushed to a 13-0 lead, scoring six runs in the first and seven in the second.

Daniel Vasquez paced the Builders with a three-run triple, a double and two singles. Gabe Hernandez came up with a double and three singles, Anthony Hernandez a two-run triple and two singles.

Daniel DeLeon went 3-for-4 for (2-2) Keading Performance.

Pro Electric hit 2-2 with a 14-6 triumph over Keller Heating. Rosendo Acevedo went 4-for-4, Johnny Perez 3-for-3 for Pro Electric. Ryan Boyd singled and doubled for Keller Heating.
