Alvarez picks up first league win in 25 attempts in 39-7 defeat

SALINAS – Eric Vegas connected with Julius Travis out of the single-wing offense on the Mustangs’ initial possession of the game against Everett Alvarez in Tri-County Athletic League action Friday night.
However, the score turned out to be the only points the Gilroy High football team (1-4) could muster in a disappointing 39-7 loss to the Eagles, sending the Mustangs to 0-2 in League.
Conversely, the win provided the Eagles (3-2, 1-0 TCAL) with their first triumph in the TCAL. They had been 0-24 heading into the contest.
