Gilroy – Four cars were stolen the night of Thursday, May 31 and the morning of Friday, June 1, all in Gilroy. An Acura was stolen from the 7500 block of Alexander Street, a 1991 Honda Accord from the 700 block of Fourth Street, a 1990 Honda Accord from the 1000 block of Monte Bello Drive, and a 1992 Honda Civic from the 400 block of El Cerrito Way. Police are unsure if the thefts are linked. One car, the Honda stolen from Fourth Street, was recovered around 9am Friday, abandoned.

GHS Students Learn About Sexual Assault

Gilroy – Advocates from the South County nonprofit Community Solutions will be presenting Gilroy High School students with information on sexual assault June 11 and 12 at the school. The trainings will be divided between boys and girls, and will include information on personal safety, reporting incidents and common misconceptions about sexual assault. Face to Face with Gilroy’s Ancestors

Gilroy – Learn the history of Gilroy through it’s prominant ancestors during a walking tour at 10am today at Gavilan Hills Memorial Park. The free tour will provide a window into Gilroy’s diverse past through the cemetery that the Masonic and IOOF lodges opened in 1872. GHS rolls out sports marketing

Gilroy – The Gilroy High School Athletic Department will be working with a high-school sports fund-raising company, Media All Stars Inc. It will assist the high school’s athletic fund-raising efforts, and will produce the seasonal sports programs, starting with the fall sports program. This month, Media All Stars will be contacting local businesses and offering sponsorship advertising spaces on the program. Samples of the company’s work is available at www.mediaallstars.com.

St. Mary’s Students Step Up

Gilroy – Kindergartners at St. Mary’s School will be promoted to first grade in an hour-long ceremony held at the campus gym. The students will take part in a procession down the aisle, wearing mortarboards with tassels. The kids will then receive diplomas and awards, read a short prayer, and become official first grade students.
