Free adoptions: visitors to the San Martin Animal Shelter won’t have to pay the $100 fee for kittens or $90 fee for cats.
Free cat and kitten adoptions will continue until many of the shelter’s roughly 150 cats in-house and 71 in foster homes are adopted, according to the shelter. The shelter is at capacity with cats in need of a home.
“It was already initially at a decently low price, but right now we’re so overwhelmed with kittens,” said Samantha Rizzo, who runs the shelter’s foster program.
Spring “kitten season” brought many of the fuzzy felines into the shelter this year, according to Rizzo.
The free adoption includes microchipping, vaccines, spay and neuter, de-worming, flea treatment, FELV cat testing and vet exam.
