Gilroy – South County Cal-SOAP invites eighth through 10th-grade students and their parents to the third annual “College: Making It Happen!” workshop, to be held from 9am to noon, Saturday, at Gavilan College in Room LS101.
Cal-SOAP will offer three workshops: “How to succeed in high school,” “The Four College Systems (UC, CSU, CC, and private universities),” and “How to Pay for College” following a motivational speaker and ending with lunch and an iPod raffle drawing for all participants.
“This is one of the ways Cal-SOAP can reach students and parents in the four different districts that participate in the South County Cal-SOAP Consortium, and it’s the same day as GavFest, so there is more fun to be had on the Gavilan College campus after the event,” said Erin C. Gemar, Project Director for the SCCC. “It’s never too early to start planning for your child’s education. We sincerely appreciate parent participation, as you, moms and dads, are the No. 1 reason that students are deciding to go to college.”
