Gaeta’s Ballers earned the second-half Women’s Basketball League title Monday with a 39-36 victory over Western Tree Nursery at Solorsano Gymnasium.

Gatea’s and Western Tree begin the best 2-of-3 Championship Series at 7pm Monday Feb. 18 at Solorsano Gym. The second game is scheduled for Wednesday Feb. 20, with a third game, if needed, on Monday Feb. 25.

The Men’s Basketball League will also begin post-season play Monday Feb. 18 when Beale Properties and Bethany Community Church meet at 8pm. Valerie Smith Intero won both halves of play in the men’s program, leaving a three-game series to determine the second-place award winner. The Beale-Bethany winner faces GC Farms at 8pm on Wednesday Feb. 20.

Laura Hennesee’s 24-point explosion carried Gaeta’s Ballers to the win over Western Tree and a 5-1 record for the second half.

Hennessee drained four three-point field goals. Antoinette Bowe aided with eight points for the winners. Marissa Taylan and Melanie Corona each delivered 12 points for Western Tree.

The Garlic Girls completed the half with a 3-3 after a 39-32 decision over Williams Dental Lab.

Elise Bassett worked inside for 18 points for the Garlic squad. Amber Bandanza produced 12 of her 14 points in the second half as the Garlic Girls erased a 19-15 intermission deficit. Julia Kuwada and Susan Marie Hoeft each popped in 10 points for Williams Dental Lab.

Valerie Smith Intero completed a 6-0 second half with a 54-50 squeaker over GC Farms Wednesday at Solorsano Gym.

Kevin Steele hit three 3-pointers while pacing the champions with 15 points. Marcos Barbosa was good for 14 points, Jonathan Mixter eight for the Realtors.

Cliff Dennett kept GC Farms in contention by powering to 22 points. Daniel Crowe struck for 11, Chase Locsin eight for the Farmers.

Bethany scrambled into a three-team tie for second place for the half by topping Morgan Hill Garage 74-50.

Dominik Wilkins tallied 30 points, Anthony Bravo 19, Alexis Rivas 12 and Ray Bravo 11 for the winners. Sig Reynisson countered with 16 points, Joe Wortham, Josh Torres 10 and Rick Hattaway nine for Morgan Hill Garage.

Beale Properties defeated Phi Slamma Jamma 61-40 to move into the tie for second place. Rick Vasquez paced Beale with 17 points. Mike Kachel and Robert Rodriguez each netted 12 points, Tony Gama 10 for the winners. Ed Galisanao led Phi Slamma Jamma with 18 points.
