The Gilroy Garlic Festival Association announced today “Top Chef” sensation Angelo Sosa and country recording artist Kip Moore will headline the entertainment aspects of the 2011 Gilroy Garlic Festival taking place July 29-31.

The chefs of the renowned summertime extravaganza also plan to introduce a new entree in Gourmet Alley called “The Alley Wrap,” according to a press release.

Sosa, who was voted viewer favorite during the seventh season of “Top Chef,” will appear all three days of the Garlic Festival. He will host a cooking demonstration July 30 in the Cook-Off Theater, and on July 31 he will host the Garlic Showdown, a battle mimicking the TV show “Iron Chef” with a quartet of prominent Northern California professional chefs.

Musical entertainment will feature continuous live concerts on three stages presenting a wide range of sounds. Moore, whose current hit “Mary Was the Marrying Kind” is climbing the charts, will follow country recording artists Brother Trouble and the Dirt Drifters on the Vineyard Stage July 30.

Online ticket purchasing, which offers a $2 admission discount, will also provide a $2 reduction on Gourmet Alley Combo Plates.

The 2011 Gilroy Garlic Festival will run from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. July 29-31 at Christmas Hill Park in Gilroy. Admission costs $17 for adults, $8 for seniors ages 60 and up and $8 for children ages 6-12. Children younger than 6 will be admitted free. Parking is free.

Tickets offering a $2 discount on all admissions are also available at Raley’s, Bel Air and Nob Hill Foods locations throughout Northern California and at gilroygarlicfestival.com.
