The Gilroy Garlic Festival Association is set to unveil plans for an “unprecedented” intercollegiate competition next Tuesday at Mama Mia’s Ristorante Italiano, located at 275 E. Dunne Ave. in Morgan Hill.

The top secret “Garlic Bowl MMXIII,” for which a date has not been announced, will involve competitors from UC Berkeley, Fresno State and San Jose State, said Festival Spokesman Peter Ciccarelli.

Dennis Harrigan, president of the 35th Gilroy Garlic Festival, will introduce the team captains from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The 35th Annual Gilroy Garlic Festival will take place July 26, 27 and 28 in Christmas Hill Park in Gilroy.
