Gavilan soccer 4-1 winners, volleyball sweeps past West

Abraham Arreaga tallied twice, Josh Gonzalez and Miles Mammahm once each as the Gavilan College Rams defeated visiting Monterey Peninsula College 4-1 in Coast Conference action Friday.

The victory is the Rams’ second in a row after dropping their conference opener to City College of San Francisco last week.

Gavilan (6-2-1 overall, 2-1-0 Coast Conference) blanked Mission College 6-0 on Tuesday.

Arreaga scored twice in that tilt as well, and so did Kristian Urias and Jimmy Martinez.

The Rams followed up their dominant three-set win against Monterey Peninsula on Wednesday with another convincing triumph Friday at West Valley.

Emily Tonascia collected 11 kills as Gavilan improved to 2-0 in the Coast Conference with a 25-15, 25-10, 25-17 win.

Avry Walker and KC Beadle added nine and seven kills, respectively, and Walker also had a match high 14 digs on the night with Jackie Lantis adding 11 digs and three aces.
