The Coast Conference-South Champion Gavilan softball team will start postseason play Saturday.Â
The Rams will host Ohlone Saturday, though the time is yet to be determined.Â
Gavilan clinched the conference championship with a 1-0 win over Cabrillo in extra innings on April 22.

Rams drop finale
Talk about a heartbreaker.
Gavilan closed out the season with a one-run loss, 7-6, at Hartnell Thursday that spanned 11 innings.
The Rams trailed 6-3 heading into the top of the eighth, when the visitors started their rally. Alex Hagiperos doubled to score Andrew Bueno before crossing the plate when DJ Santellano reached on an error by the pitcher. Santellano came home on a wild pitch for the equalizer.
An RBI single from Logan Martin in the bottom of the 11th sealed the deal for the Panthers.
Gavilan took advantage of its bases loaded situation in the top of the fifth. Hagiperos scored when Danny Gutierrez was hit by pitch to load the bags. Steven Martinez reached on a fielder’s choice to score Santellano and give the Rams a 2-1 lead.
Hartnell tied it up in the bottom half of the inning and scored two more runs in the bottom of the sixth to take a 4-2 lead. Gavilan cut the lead to one run in the top of the seventh when, once again, Hagierperos scored as Eric Guill-Perez was walked to load the bases.
Hagiperos had three runs, two hits and an RBI, while Gutierrez had two hits and an RBI. Santellano went 1 for 5 with two runs scored.
Taylor Hussey was the losing pitcher, despite allowing just one run on four hits and no walks through three and one third innings of work. He also struck out four.
Gavilan finishes the season with a 12-24 overall record and 6-18 in conference play.Â
