The Gavilan baseball team dropped its season opener, 3-2, to San Joaquin Delta College Tuesday in Stockton. 
The Rams got on the board first when Kevin Burley singled to left field, scoring Tony Amaral to take a 1-0 lead. 
The Mustangs answered with two runs in the bottom of the fourth, the first coming off Collin Theroux’s double which scored Zack Perugi. Nelson Muniz grounded out to the shortstop, but Theroux stilled crossed home plate to give SJD a 2-1 lead. 
Amaral scored his second run of the day on an error and evened the score at 2-2. Erik Barron got to first on the same play and John Foresti to third to put runners on the corners with two outs in the top of the fifth. Barron moved to second on a wild pitch and Burley walked to load the bases, but Sean Allen stuck out swinging to end the inning. 
SJD’s Theroux scored the winning run for his team on a wild pitch in the bottom of the sixth. 
The 0-1 Rams will play their home opener at 2 p.m. Thursday against Lassen College.
