Gavilan scored first against Hartnell Tuesday, but the Panthers didn’t allow it anything after that.
The Rams lost 10-1 in Salinas, dropping them to 14-8 overall, 7-5 in conference play.
Gavilan’s lone run came when Tyler Slayday singled with the bases loaded in the top of the second, allowing Erik Barron to score. Unfortunately for the Rams, that’s all the damage they’d be able to do.
Hartnell answered with two runs in the bottom of the inning and two more in both the fourth and fifth innings. The Panthers added three more in the seventh and another in the eighth for the final.
Barron was handed the loss on the bump. He allowed six runs on eight hits through six innings of work. He also struck out five, walked one and gave up a homer.
Gavilan looks to rebound when it takes on Cabrillo at 2:30 p.m. Thursday.
