Gavilan suffered two tough one-point losses over the weekend at the hands of Skyline College and the College of San Mateo.
The Rams fell 3-2 to Skyline in 12 innings on Thursday before losing 5-4 at the College of San Mateo Saturday.
Gavilan’s Bryant Cid broke a scoreless tie in the top of the 12th inning when he hit a two-run homer, which scored Tony Amaral.
The Rams couldn’t hold off Skyline, however, as they answered with three runs in the bottom of the inning to win.
Cid led the Rams in that game, going 1 for 5 with two RBIs, a run scored and home run. Amaral went 2 for 5 with a run and a double. Shortstop Matt Peterson was 2 for 3.
Erik Barron gave an admiral performance on the bump, allowing six hits and striking out five over nine innings of work. Reliever Connor DiNiro was handed the loss, allowing one earned run and a walk.
Stats and scoring from Saturday’s game is not yet available.
The Rams (11-5) will be back in action at 2:30 p.m. Thursday to host Hartnell.

Rams fall to WV in 6
Gavilan dropped its seventh straight game, falling 12-3 to West Valley in six innings at Gavilan Thursday.
West Valley led 5-0 before the Rams answered with a run in the bottom of the third. The Vikings added another run in the top of the fourth, but the Gavilan was able to hold them scoreless for the remainder of the game.
The Rams went on to score a run in the bottom of the fourth and fifth innings, but it wouldn’t be enough to lift them out of their early hole.
Mari Rodriguez led Gavilan, going 3 for 3 with an RBI and a triple. Tori Lobato also had an RBI for the Rams.
Erica Baxter was 1 for 3 with a triple and a run scored for the Rams, while Brittani Newman went 1 for 2 with two runs and a walk. She also had a stolen base.
Lobato got the loss in the circle, allowing 12 runs—six earned—on 14 hits through six innings. She walked one and struck out two.
