After scoring only 16 points in its second game in eight years, the Gavilan College women’s basketball team took its first halftime lead Monday in a 57-56 loss to Marin.
The Rams stared the game with a fast start, taking a 36-28 lead at halftime. Andreinna Casteneda scored a team-high 12 points for the Rams, who fell to 0-3 on the year.
Divena Flores and Breanna Hernandez each added 10 points in the loss.
Eight players scored for Gavilan.
After going into halftime with an eight-point lead, Marin went on a second-half run to outscore the Rams 29-20 in the final minutes.
The Rams travel to Ukiah on Friday to play Lassen College in the first game of the Mendocino Tournament.
