battle with cancer.

Gilbert “Pelon” Saldana died Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2004, in Hollister after a brief battle with cancer.

He was 35.

Mr. Saldana was a Gilroy native and a self employed electrician. He had a great sense of humor and will be missed by all.

He is survived by his wife, April Saldana of Hollister; children, Nicholas Saldana of Gilroy, Benjamin and Jazmyne Saldana of Hollister; mother, Helen Madrid of Gilroy; father, Gilberto Saldana of Hollister; sisters, Della Ramos of Gilroy, Dolores Saldana of Gilroy; brother, Ray Ramos of Los Banos; grandparents, Manuel and Tomasa Saldana of Hollister, and Genaro Perez of Gilroy; mother and father in law James and Armida Santos of Morgan Hill; brother in law, James Santos of Santa Cruz and sister in law Amy Santos of Morgan Hill; aunts, uncles of Gilroy and Hollister; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his nana Rita Perez and infant son Vincente Saldana.

A vigil will be held at 6 p.m. today, Aug. 5, 2004, at Habing Family Funeral Home, Gilroy.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, Aug. 6, 2004, at the funeral home, then proceed to St. Mary Church for Mass at 11 a.m.

Burial will follow at St. Mary Cemetery, Gilroy.
