Gilroy Little League’s 11-year-old softball All-Stars won the
Division II State Championship on Monday, finishing a perfect 3-0
in games played in Concord.
After defeating Suisun 14-1 in the first contest and Parkway
18-15 in the second game, Gilroy proved to be twice as strong as
its championship opponent by topping Parkway again in the finals,
this time by a score of 19-3.

The winning pitcher was Sam De La Torre, who had eight strikeouts in the shortened four-inning game. Players with multiple hits in the game included Dejah Raoof, Brittney Souza, Abby Kienle and Nicole Green.
“The girls played extremely well as a team,” Manager Al Orosco said. “They started the tournament with hot bats and it continued all the way to the championship.”
