Gilroy is for Lovers
Downtown businesses have gotten together to attract lovers for Valentine’s Day. It’s part of a plan by the Gilroy Downtown Business Association to have at least one special event a month to bring people to the center of town. That’s one way to handle the challenge of competition from malls and outlets.
Some of the specials include: a 10 percent discount at Gilroy Flower Shop on bouquets over $50, with a free balloon; a free heart-shaped mat for 8X10 frames at Leedo Art & Framing; a $40 discount at The T-Shirt Place; a $100 discount on alterations at Mafalda’s Bridal; romantic place settings at Garlic City Mercantile for $18.50 and discounts on all Valentine’s stuff; 20 percent off at Amoretto Boutique (notice the amor in the name); free tempered glass with iPhone repairs and 20 percent off computer cleanups at RoboShark; get $20 percent off a book for your partner with your own purchase at BookBuyers and chocolate cupcakes and “Be Mine Latte” at Fifth Street Coffee.
There’s also a giant prize basket giveaway for the winner of the Romantic Couple essay. Submit 500 words about why you are Gilroy’s most romantic couple to Me*****@do************.com by Sunday at 5 p.m. to enter. The Gilroy Dispatch staff will judge.
