Cathryn, youngest daughter of Betty and Bruce (deceased) Whitmore, has died after a brief illness with cancer. She attended elementary school in Morgan Hill, high school in Willamina, OR, and college at Chico State, graduating with a Master of Science degree. She is survived by her mother and five sisters, Jayne Xavier, Janeen Whitmore, Carol Arthur, Karen Coonen, Kristen Keller. Services were held on July 24, 2009.
Marietta Segal passed away quietly in her home in Morgan Hill, CA on July 29, 2009. Dr. Segal received her doctorate degree from State University of N.Y. at Buffalo. She was a professor and Head of the Child Development And Educational Studies Department at Gavilan College in Gilroy, CA, retiring May, 2008. Ms. Segal will be loved and missed by her friends and family, as she touched many lives with her generosity and sense of humor.
Age 80, passed away suddenly of unknown causes while engaging in what she so enjoyed: hiking. Emelie was a member of the Santa Clara County Audubon Society and the Companion of the Trail Hiking Group. An avid bird watcher and talented artist, Emelie will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. She is preceded in death by her husband, William Curtis. Survived by her children: Christine Crozier of Gottingen, Germany, Brian Curtis of Morgan Hill, Bruce Curtis of Valley Springs, CA and four grandchildren. A memorial service is scheduled for Sunday, August 2, 2009, 11:00 A.M. at the Johnson Funeral Home in Morgan Hill. Donations in her memory to your favorite charity.
William died suddenly at Mabie Southside at the age of 89. Having lived in Hollister his entire life, William was born at Hazel Hawkins Hospital on Monterey Street. He graduated from Union School and Hollister High School. He then worked on his father's Union and Fairview ranches, while he worked as a deputy recorder, clerk and auditor. He was then drafted into the Army and spent 1 ½ years between the United States, England, France and Germany. When he returned he met Lucille Hoagland at her parents' restaurant, Bishop Cafe. They were married in Reno, NV on July 30, 1947 and returned to Hollister. He worked about 15 years for Wm. Flint Shell Oil Co. then he delivered mail out of Hollister to Tres Pinos, Paicines, Pinnacles, San Benito, Hernandez, Panoche and New Idria. At the same time, he and his wife worked both ranches. They both retired in 1990. William is survived by his children, Diana Tilley and her husband, John Tilley of Coalinga, CA and Robert A. Blacklock and his wife, Laura Blacklock of Hollister. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Michael Tilley, Jennifer Courtney, Sarah Blacklock and her husband, Manuel Rivera and Rebecca Blacklock, great- grandchildren, Cameron, Justin and Trevor Courtney. Willliam is also survived by a sister, Loraine Johnson of Santa Clara and many nieces and nephews and in-laws, John Hoagland, Barbara Griffin and Lucy Hoagland. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wm. A. and Alma Blacklock, wife Lucille, in-laws, John and Louise Hoagland, Maxine Ferraro, Billy Joe Hoagland, Roy Johnson, Vivian Hoagland, nephew, David Farraro and niece Barbara Ferraro.
Ricardo (Richard) V. Munoz, Sr. passed away at the age of 66 in Gilroy, CA. He was with family at the time of his death. He came to Gilroy in 1962. He was a teacher's assistant for the handicapped and also worked at Bozzo's 76 Gas Station and South Valley Refuse. He is survived by his children Jessie Munoz and Sal, Mathilda Munoz-Lopez and Jorge and George Munoz all of Gilroy. Grandchildren Mario, Rigo, Vanessa, Veronica, Elisa, Jorge Jr., Mondo, Daniel and Myla all of Gilroy. Also great-grandchildren Saphire Sky and Mario Munoz Jr. Also survived by sisters, brothers, nieces and nephews.
Entered into rest at the age of 36 in Gilroy. He is survived by his loving parents, Patricia and John Trinchero of Gilroy; brothers, Chris Scheefer of Texas and Andy Trinchero of Gilroy.
