Gina Natalie Oneto

Passed away after a long and loving life. Daughter of Northern Italian immigrants, Giovanni and Albertina Carosso and second youngest of two brothers and two sisters, Gina was born August 29, 1923 in Methuen, Massachusetts. Following the family wine business to California, her family moved to San Francisco then to Lodi and Fresno were she attended high school and began her career as a secretary for Roma Wine. She married Bruce Oneto and moved to Santa Clara where she worked for H.M Gousha Map Co. and Lincoln High School. They started a family and moved to Campbell. Years later, as a single parent and sole provider, Gina ultimately raised three children and cared for her two elderly parents. Gina continued her career with the Bankruptcy Court, and the law firms of Albert J. Ruffo and Pillsbury, Madison and Sutro retiring in 1993. In 2004, after 45 years in her house on Cameo Drive, Campbell, Gina joined her three children and four grandchildren in Gilroy were she spent the rest of her days surrounded by family and friends.

Thomas J. Lawry

Tom Lawry, well known owner of Lawry Retrievers and Buena Vista Kennels in Hollister passed away at his residence on Aug. 23rd at the age of 55 years. Tom was a native of San Mateo, a 1970 graduate of Los Altos High School, a junior college graduate; and a Vietnam Veteran, having served with the U.S. Army. Upon his army discharge in 1974 Tom moved to San Benito County, bought his property on Buena Vista Road and started Lawry Retrievers. Besides the Bay Area and Southern California, Tom had clients throughout the western states where he often competed in trials with his own retrievers. He enjoyed the out-of-doors fishing and hunting. He is survived by his parents Jack and Nancy Lawry of Aromas;his daughter Marcie Lawry and her fiance Sterling Dorsett of Hollister, and his brother David Lawry of Lamarque, Texas.

Emily M. Sanchez

Longtime Gilroy resident Emily Sanchez lost her long battle with diabetes on Thursday, August 21, 2008. She passed away in Gilroy, surrounded by her loving family.

Andrew Trinchero

Andrew Trinchero passed away at Gilroy Healthcare on Aug. 18. He was born in Oakland, CA to Francesca and Severino Trinchero then returned to Torino Italy where he lived for 11 years. He returned to the US and settled in Gilroy, CA with his Aunt Mary and Uncle John Giachina.

He is reunited with his father Jesus, sister Juanita and brother Albert Corella; survived by his mother Josephine Corella; brother of Margaret (Martin) Corella-Guevara, Simon Silva, Pablo Silva all of CA, Herman (Elida) Corella, Victor (Frances) Silva, Alice Garcia all of AZ, and Pete (Darla) Corella of WA; also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Azriel Griego

Azriel Griego passed away at birth. He is the infant son of Pete and Alicia Griego of Hollister and is survived by his sisters, Ysabel Cabrera, Amaris Griego and Lysette Griego all of Hollister, his grandparents, Pedro and Lennie Griego of Hollister and Felix and Juanita Cabrera of Morgan Hill. He is also survived by his aunts, uncles and cousins.

Gene A. Scowden

Gene was born in 1934 in Oklahoma City. He graduated high school in 1951 and enlisted in the US Navy the following year, where he served for 26 years. After retiring as Sr. Chief, Gene worked in commercial plumbing and lived with his family in Gilroy.

Loree Michelle Jones, age 44, passed away in Hollister after a lengthly illness, Tuesday afternoon. Loree leaves her mother, Gloria Jones of Hollister, her father, Stan Jones of North Carolina, a brother, Alan Jones, wife Stephanie of Spokane, a sister, Amy McAbery, husband Scott of Nevada. Niece of Jeanne Schneyder & family of Clarksville, TX , Sunny Koch of Deming, N.M., David & Carmen Jones of Gardnerville, NV, Una and Sharon Jones of Auberry, CA. Aunt of Brady, Campbell, Mitchell, Noah and Maddie Jones, Brandon and Megan McAbery. Also survived by cousins, Sherri and Dennis Dunphy of San Jose.
