Gilroy native Rebecca Dickson will compete for the title of Miss California USA Jan. 9-11 in Long Beach. 

Gilroy’s Rebecca Dickson has been selected to represent the Garlic Capital in the 2015 Miss California USA contest.
Dickson will compete with women from all over the Golden State for the title of Miss California USA Jan. 9-11 at the Terrace Theater in Long Beach. The winner advances to the national Miss USA competition on Jan. 25 in Miami and receives a $5,000 educational scholarship.
Dickson is a native Gilroyan and a 2008 graduate of Gilroy High. She was part of the water polo, swimming and gymnastics teams during her time as a Mustang as well choir and the Interact Club.
The annual Gilroy Garlic Festival is a big part of Dickson’s life, having worked it almost every summer. She also taught swim lessons to local children through the City of Gilroy and worked at LJB Farms while in high school.
Dickson is a graduate of BYU-Hawaii and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management-Marketing. She also earned her Cosmetology license from San Jose City College in 2012.
The pageant—which will feature no more than 210 contestants from around the state—will host three shows: two preliminary competitions and the final. All three are ticketed events open to the public and can be purchased at Ticketmaster.com. The pageant will also be streamed live at 4 p.m. Jan. 11 at PageantVision.com.
