South Valley native Cherise Gowan was confident going into the American Idol tryouts in San Francisco Oct. 5, but was ultimately disappointed.
After waiting in line for 10 hours, the 18-year-old singer was allowed to try out in a group of four, but knew she would not advance.
“Before I went in there must have been about 800 people left,” said Gowan. “They came out and said, ‘It’s the end of the day and we’ll let you try out, but from here we’re cutting everyone so none of you will be on the show.'”
Gowan isn’t giving up on her career. She recently tried out to replace the lead singer of a label-signed pop punk/ska band. Those results should be in by the end of the week.
