Gilroy – The Gilroy Unified School District board will interview consultant firms next week that will take over the search for a new superintendent.
Current Superintendent Edwin Diaz is slated to leave in the spring for a new superintendent position in Pasadena. It is standard practice for school boards to hire firms to take over the search process, including advertising the position, gathering resumes and even finding interim superintendents to take the reigns while the search is in progress.
The board will interview two firms starting at 5pm Tuesday at the district office on Arroyo Circle. Two additional firms will be interviewed starting at 6pm Wednesday at the district office. The interview meetings are open to the public.
Immediately following the final interview Wednesday, the board plans to select a firm. Once that choice has been made, Diaz will work with the firm to gather a complete list of candidates for the interim superintendent position. The list will be presented to the board and an interim candidate will be selected in the first week of February. The board hopes to have a permanent replacement for Diaz by early July.
