Hilda Vargas died Sept. 18, 2003, in San Jose.
She was the wife of the late John E. Vargas Sr. She was the mother of the late John Vargas Jr. She was the grandmother of John E Vargas III and Renee M. Vargas; great grandmother of Mary E. Vargas and Matthew D. Espinoza; great grandmother of Alyssia L. and Kirsten E. Lupina; and sister of Delinda Saunders.
Hilda retired in 1978 from Monarch Match and was a member of the Portuguese Historical Society at Kelly Park, St. Catherine’s Church in Morgan Hill.
Vigil service is Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the Mission Chapel of San Jose Rancadore and Alameda Funeral Home, 600 S. 2nd St.
Family and friends may gather Thursday at 8:30 a.m. at the Mission Chapel and accompany the family to Five Wounds Portuguese National Church for 9:30 a.m. funeral mass.
Interment is at Calvary Cemetery.
