GILROY – HMI powered past Radiator Doctor 8-4 Thursday to move into first place in the Men’s EE League with a 2-0 mark at Las Animas Park.
Run-scoring singles by Nathan Caldos, Spencer Straub, Ray Keldson and Bobby Guerrero gave HMI a 4-0 lead in the top of the first inning. Shawn Cronk completed a three-hit performance for the winners with a solo homer in the fourth.
Eric Robinson singled and doubled, while Jerry Powell went 2-for-3 with one RBI for Radiator Doctor.
Solid Ground kept pace with HMI by defeating VFW BIngo 20-3. John Fulmber homered and Gian Rossini went 3-for-3 for Solid Ground. Gabe Perez and John Terri each collected two VFW Bingo hits.
Dave Steffenson’s two-run triple in a six-run fifth inning helped South Valley Newspapers upset Associated Concrete 15-11. David DelVillar’s RBI-single pushed the Newsmen to a 10-7 lead. Robert Castillo doubled across one run in a five-run seventh to lock up the decision. Castillo went 4-for-4 and Steffenson added a two-run homer for the winners. Jon Steman hit a single, triple and homer for Associated Concrete.
Ozzie’s Oddballs defeated the good Ole Boys 15-11 to improve to 2-0 in Men’s E play Thursday. Greg Lugo and Joe Barboa each went 4-for-4 for the Oddballs. Mark Haworth drove in three Good Ole Boys runs with a double and homer. Todd Morrell went 4-for-4 and scored four Boys runs.
Ed Struzick homered and Andrew Lanier and Christian Alonzo each plated three runs in a 17-8 St. Mary Men’s Club (2-0) nod over the Slammers. Ray Covarrubias went 3-for-3 for the Slammers.
Ray Garcia led off the game with a home run and Javier Armenta and Leo Campos added consecutive homemrs in a 15-run first frame to carry Pray For Rain past the Titans 30-7. Vic Vanni went 3-for-3 and Craig Courtney drove in two Titans runs with a homer and single.
Paul Garcia went 4-for-4, Daniel DeLeon hit a three-run homer and Mike Luna scored four runs as the Playaz opened Men’s BB League play with a 15-11 win Friday over the Gilroy Clippers. Daniel Vasquez went 5-for-5 and scored four Clipper runs.
Lopez Vending Machines and Little Pizzarena fought to a 15-15 tie after eight innings. Julian Rodriguez hit a run-scoring triple and scored the tying run in the Pizzarena eighth on an Arnold Martinez sacrifice fly. Marshall Silva homered in a 4-for-5 night for Lopez Vending.
Rudy Rodriguez went 4-for-5 to lead AAA Courier Poor Boys to a 21-11 decision over Dee’s Nuts Friday in Men’s C League action at Las Animas Park. Rico Lopez hit a run-scoring triple in an eight-run second inning as Dee’s fashioned a 10-1 lead.
Brock Prather drove in six runs with a homer, two doubles and a single as Kenko Pipelayers topped Humboldt Brewing 19-3. Scott Perkins went 4-for-4 for the winners, Dave Plaza and Dave Robinson each 2-for-2 for Humboldt.
Eddie Vargas hit a two-run single in a four-run seventh inning as the Red Dogz snapped a 12-12 tie and defeated Interstate Fence 16-13. Everett Wallace went 4-for-4 for the Dogz, Sean Subia 4-for-4 for the Fence.
Chase Locsin hit three homer, Joey Barnes and Dustin Encallado two each in a 30-13 Puzzle Systems win over Blackout Window Tinting in Men’s DD play Friday at Gavilan Sports Park. Alex Pina singled and homered for Blackout.
Mose Caballero highlighted a six-run sixth inning with an RBI-triple as Team HJ-FX rallied past Machinist Cooperative 12-8. Eric Noma went 3-for-4 for Machinist.
Family Affair and Me & Julio battled to a 19-19 tie. Rich Altamirano hit for the cycle, Terry Wills hit two homers and Ronnie Altamirano added one for Family Affair. Al Vegas went 5-for-6, Randy Evanger went 4-for-6 and John Serrine homered for Me & Julio.
