San Jose Barracuda

SAN JOSE—The San Jose Sharks, in conjunction with Barracuda Networks, announced Thursday that the team’s American Hockey League affiliate, which will play its home games at the SAP Center starting in October, will be known as the San Jose Barracuda.
Barracuda Networks, one of the industry leaders in cloud-connected security and storage solutions, will be the team’s presenting sponsor.
“I cannot overstate the importance of having our prospects play in the same time zone as the parent club and available to our team without a cross-country flight,” Sharks General Manager Doug Wilson said.
The AHL announced the creation of a new Pacific Division for the 2015-16 in January. It will be comprised of five National Hockey League-affiliated teams based in California.
The Pacific Division will consist of teams in Bakersfield (Edmonton Oilers), Ontario (Los Angeles Kings), San Diego (Anaheim Ducks), San Jose (San Jose Sharks) and Stockton (Calgary Flames).
“When we heard the AHL team was moving to the Bay Area, we immediately explored the opportunity to further our partnership with the Sharks to include the AHL franchise,” Michael Perone, co-founder, EVP and CMO at Barracuda said.
Though the list of Sharks players to spend time in the AHL is expansive, some notable players include: Joe Pavelski, Logan Couture, Brent Burns, Antti Niemi and others.
A composite AHL schedule for the 2015-16 season is still being finalized and will be released upon completion.
Tickets for the Barracuda’s season are on sale now at sjbarracuda.com or by phone at (408) 977-4747. Season ticket packages start at $408 and average $12 per game.
