The Gilroy High girls basketball team will wait until Saturday to get its postseason underway.

The 2010-11 Tri-County Athletic League champions were awarded the No. 2 seed in the Central Coast Section Division 1 playoff bracket, and with that seeding, two byes into the quarterfinals.

The Lady Mustangs (21-1, 12-0) had a pair of passes into the quarterfinals as the No. 4 seed last season.

Palo Alto (No. 1), Gunn (No. 3) and Oak Grove (No. 4) also received byes into the quarterfinal round.

San Benito (No. 6) and North Salinas (No. 5) will also represent the TCAL. Both earned first-round byes.

On the boys’ end, the 12th-seeded Mustangs will open the playoffs at home against No. 13 Milpitas (14-10) on Tuesday night. If Gilroy (14-10, 7-5) prevails, No. 5 Bellarmine (15-11) awaits Thursday.

Game time for Tuesday’s tilt with Milpitas is slated for 7 p.m.
