Kids don’t see it as a big deal because their parents don’t.

Both Adrian Ruiz and Miguel Castillo are right, this is a part of life and it is all around, but this is no excuse for such behaviors by anyone. It’s incredible that Brandy Grimaldo doesn’t think the skit about the unsatisfied wife was inappropriate. What was she thinking? Is it okay for a man to physically restrain his wife into submission? Talk about setting the stages for domestic violence!
Yes, this is the world we live in today but it still doesn’t make it right. Our world is also filled with drugs, murder, rape and child abuse. Would these same people feel the same about seeing skits related to these topics? After all, it’s part of the world we live in isn’t it? These things are all around us as well!!
This doesn’t have to be the world we live in. We don’t have to accept these type of behaviors. I urge Principal Bob Bravo and the GUSD to take action with Mr. Meeker. He is ultimately responsible in this case since he is the person hired to teach our children! He as the teacher has the final say on what his student can or cannot do. Mr. Meeker said that the only time things started to get out of hand was when a girl started to do a “raunchy dance?”
So in other words what he is saying is that it’s okay to promote teenage sex, domestic violence? And he is a teacher? What exactly is he teaching? He feels that the skits were appropriate to the student audience but would be offensive to the adults? I’d like to know what goes on in his classes when it’s only him and his students?
Just because the Scholastic book company sells this stuff doesn’t mean you have to buy or use it. It was your choice. Just because it’s out there doesn’t make it right. It’s only out there because people like yourself will promote it. I’m sure glad he doesn’t teach my children.
Shame on you Mr. Meeker! Shame on the drama class and shame on all you parents who allow these behaviors to continue!
We all live in this world, we made this world what it is today so we only have ourselves to blame. We can also change it.
At this rate it won’t be long before we start seeing this stuff in our grade schools but then it’s okay because “it’s the world we live in.”
