James Augustus Mammini was born on December 12, 1941 and left this world on February 22, 2012. He passed away unexpectedly leaving his family and friends deeply saddened. Jimmy was born in Gilroy and raised in San Martin by loving parents Louis and Rosie Mammini.
He spent his youth with his sister Guilia and Eugene, plus many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He often reminisced about heading out in the morning by foot, crossing the hills over to Coyote Lake to spend the day. It was a simpler time and he grew up with a lot of freedom running around the countryside, collecting marbles and learning to work hard on the family ranch.
After graduating from Live Oak High School and serving in the National Guard, he continued to farm the family ranch into the 1990s. He also had a successful home gardening business.
He worked up until his final days, alongside his son Daniel, while also continuing to make his daily “coffee” stops all over town.
You may know Jimmy as the guy who always knew your name, was always smiling and always had a joke to tell. He will be sorely missed.
He is survived by his loving wife Engracia Mammini of San Juan Bautista, as well as his children and step- children Jeannette (Frank) Tomany, Michelle (Bradd) Savage, Jessica Mammini, Daniel Mammini, Naomi (Jose Ramirez) Mammini, Maria A (Javier) Cordova, Maria Lourdes (Leobardo) Pareja, Ignacio (Cynthia Villagomez) Ponce and David (Kati Valdez) Ponce. He will also be missed by his grandchildren and step- grandchildren Kerri, David, Sean, Jack, Max, Emiliano, Fabian, Adrian, Ariana Sonia and Alexa, plus great-grandsons Andres and Michael. He is also survived by his sister Guilia Gallego and brother Eugene (Holly) Mammini, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins, both here and in Italy.
