The neighbors went looking for you but technically, the fault is mine because she slipped outside. Bella would sneak outdoors to look for children to play with, saw one across Church street and was standing, still, in the road when you hit her and kept going.
Even the vet cried because she knew Bella. Little Bianca on our block will be crushed when she asks if she can take Bella for a walk some day next week. Perhaps hitting her was unavoidable, but at least, you could have stopped to see if she needed help. She laid there so quiet, in the road, in the “prancing” position, eyes open, just like she will be forever running to play with a smiling, laughing child.
Jeers.
