Dear Editor,
Listen this whole idea of Jeff Garcia having the advantage over Joey Harrington in earning the number one spot as the Lions quarterback, is very disrespectful to the whole entire Detroit Lions franchise. Where I come from there is no such thing as having an advantage over any position that you are fighting for. You have to work hard and earn that position.
Even though Jeff is a product of Gilroy, he definitely does not have an advantage over Harrington. It’s either going to be said “Jeff has earned the spot as the number one quarterback” or “Jeff is the number two quarterback.”
We all have to get up and earn our positions in life, and work hard for what we make of it, so for our local paper to put out a report about Jeff having an advantage – you should be saving it for the day Jeff does get the call to be the starter, then put it out there .
If it’s applying for a job at your local Wal-Mart or applying for the number one position as the starting quarterback for the Detroit Lions, you still have to earn it.
Don’t get me wrong, I am a huge fan of Jeff’s and I am pulling for him. I personally think this is going to be Jeff’s best year all around.
