GILROY – Five men robbed La Estrellita Jewelers, 353 E. 10th St., around noon on Thursday, getting away with more than $100,000 in jewelry and diamonds, according to the store’s owner.

Five Mexican men ages 18 to 30 entered the store Thursday and one of the men showed a gun to the clerk – threatening to shoot the clerk if she tried to prevent the robbery. All five men were unmasked, and fled the scene in a white, four-door Honda Civic.

Javier Escudero, the store’s owner, said it is the first time his store has been robbed in the two years he has owned it.

Police released no information on the robbery by press time.
