Joe J. Conconi passed away at the age of 84 on Thursday afternoon. He was a native of Hollister and a lifelong resident of San Benito County. He and his brother, Benny Costa, owned and operated the John Costa Dairy on Lovers’ Lane in Hollister. Joe was a veteran serving in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a member of the Hollister Elk’s Lodge, SIRS, V.F.W. Post 9242 and the Eagles lodge.
Joe served as Trustee of Spring Grove School, North County for 37 years, Director on Resource Conservation for 47 years, Director of Santa Clara Dairymen’s Association, and Director of the Federal Land Bank for many years.
Joe is survived by his wife of 55 years, Annabelle Conconi; nieces, Genevieve Conconi Lausten, husband, Jim, Kathy Rossi, Sharon Costa, Heidi Lustenberger, husband, Dale; nephews, Steve Costa, Mark Costa, wife, Felicia, Charlie Skov, Jeremy Pura, wife, Lynn, Bobby Myers, Michael Intravia, wife, Ali, Michael Rossi, wife Jennifer; brothers, Benny Costa and Frank Costa; sisters-in-law, Katherine Intravia, Marie Skov, Virginia Pura, husband, Eldon, Carmen Conconi Jorrick, and brother-in-law, Bill Demichelis, wife, Nancy. Joe was preceded in death by his parents, John amd Rose Conconi Costa, brother, Frank Conconi and sister, Linda Conconi. Joe also is survived by many great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins living locally and in Switzerland.
Family and friends may visit at the Grunnagle-Ament-Nelson Funeral Home in Hollister on Wednesday from 1:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. and Thursday morning prior to leaving the funeral home at 9:30 A.M. and proceeding to Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 5th, and College Streets, for a funeral Mass commencing at 10:00 A.M. Entombment and graveside services to follow at Calvary Cemetery.
