GILROY—With so much talent on Gavilan’s roster, it’s no surprise that six of its athletes earned postseason honors.
Four Rams were named First Team All-Coast Conference-South and two more received Second Team nods Saturday.
Savanna Hartman, Raelynn Heredia, Daisy Valladares and Samantha Nydam were all named First Team All-Conference for their performances this season.
Ryan Asp and Kendall Campbell were awarded Second Team All-Conference honors.
Nydam had a standout rookie season and led the Rams in kills with 273. The freshman outside hitter also had 137 assists, 138 digs and 24 total blocks through 90 sets this season.
Hartman, a sophomore outside/middle hitter, was second on the team in kills with 167. She helped boost the offense with 21 aces and also had 39 total blocks in 79 sets.
Defensive specialist and setter Heredia led the team in digs with 350. She also had 137 assists and 32 aces this season.
Valladares, a sophomore defensive specialist, racked up 317 digs, 29 assists and 23 aces for Gavilan in 69 sets.
Asp, a sophomore outside hitter, knocked down 121 kills and picked up 120 digs for the Rams. Campbell, also a sophomore outside hitter, led the team in blocks with 44 and had 122 kills this season.
Gavilan finished 13-13 overall and earned its sixth consecutive California Community College Athletic Association playoff berth. Unfortunately for the Rams, their season ended with a 3-1 loss to Fresno on Nov. 25 in Round 1 of the NorCal Regional playoffs.
