Dear Editor,
It amazes me that there have not been more violent incidents on
the Uvas levee. I’m speaking on behalf of all the athletes, runners
and people who enjoy the convenience of the levee. I’m not the only
one that runs the levee routinely, and I know this because I run
past several other levee enjoyers every time I run on the
levee.

Anyone who runs long distances knows it is extremely difficult to run long distances in the scorching heat. As a result, some postpone their runs until dusk or later, like myself, and some run in the wee hours of the morning, before the sun comes up. In any event, several people are using the levee when there is not sufficient lighting, as they have a right to.
My question is, when is the city planning on putting sufficient lighting on the levee? I’m sure the levee enjoyers would appreciate the lights and feel more safe when they use it.
