Lawrence “Larry” Earl DeVore died Sunday, March 21, 2004, at Providence Hospital in Medford, Oregon. He was 68 years old.

DeVore was born on July, 3, 1935 in Los Angeles. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. During his lifetime, Larry enjoyed many hunting, fishing and camping trips with family and friends. He moved to Gilroy in 1964, where he served 12 years as a volunteer firefighter. He also was a member of Gilroy Baptist Church.

After spending three years in Hood River, Oregon, Larry returned to the Rogue Valley in Medford, Oregon, where he worked for Louisiana Pacific Wood Mill and Burrill Wood Mill and retired from Cal-OR Carbide, in Medford, Oregon. He was a member of the Butte Creek Baptist Church, in Eagle Point, Oregon. He also was a member of, and very active in, TOPS Club. He will be missed greatly by all his many friends and family.

DeVore was preceded in death by his parents James and Elizabeth (Hunsberger) DeVore.

In addition to his wife Betty Jo, Larry is survived by his daughters, Carol Oresetti-Connolly and husband Tim, of Medford, Ore.; Joan Schermerhorn of Wood Village, Ore.; Deanna DeVore and partner Mark Laurance of Parkdale, Ore.; stepson, Lain Ivie and wife Debbie of Florida; brother, Harvey DeVore; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at Butte Creek Baptist Church in Eagle Point, Oregon, on Saturday, Apr. 3 at 1:30 p.m. Inurnment will be held at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Medford, Oregon. Memorial contributions may be donated to the American Cancer Society.
