Leon G. “Duke” Duplissie, 80, passed away March 8, 2004, in San Juan Bautista.

Duke was born Jan. 7, 1924, in Keene, N.H., to Bertha and John Duplissie.

Duke joined the Navy in 1942 and was stationed in Wat-sonville where he met his first wife Nelda Bariola and were married in 1944. He was self employed running Dukes Refrigeration for many years and also worked with the Gilroy Ambulance Service.

He is survived by his present wife Eleanor; children Nancy Romero of Gilroy and Paul Duplissie of Emmett, Idaho; grandchildren Bryan Romero and Mark Duplissie; great grandchildren Shelby and Amber Duplissie; and many nieces and nephews in Gilroy and New Hampshire. He is preceded in death by his three brothers Paul, Norman and Clarence, who lived in New Hampshire.

He was also a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, John A. Berri Post. Graveside services will be held Monday at 3 p.m. at Gavilan Hills Memorial Park under direction of Habing Family Funeral Home.
