Nice Try on Justification for Denying Trip
Nice Try on Justification for Denying Trip
Dear Editor,
Nice try, Mr Bundros. Do you expect us to believe that if a child misses three days of school, that he or she will not be able to support a family? How absurd is that?
If a child is doing badly, he or she shouldn’t be allowed on the trip. On the other hand, a good student deserves the chance to take part in a “once-in-a-lifetime” opportunity.
As you have heard many times to this point – they will recieve lessons that could not possibly be taught in the classroom.
The same situation occurred a couple of years ago with the Future Farmers of America convention.
As I said then, if my son hadn’t been exposed to all the activities of FFA and Mr. Bob Kuntz, he never would have made it through high school, and gone on the receive a degree from Cal Poly.
So please don’t rob these young ladies of this chance.

Column Over the Line of Insensitivity
Dear Editor,
First, I must honestly say I rarely, if ever, agree with the opinions of columnist Ms. Cynthia Walker.
Some of her columns are so ridiculous they are laughable. Although I’ve considered commenting in the past, I haven’t done so. But with the Oct. 7 column, Ms. Walker has reached a new low.
Aside from her usual “know-it-all, holier-than-thou, judgmental, self-serving” attitude, she has become downright cruel and hurtful.
Ms. Walker I write to you now as one mother to another. We are blessed to still have our daughters with us and to be able to share our lives with them. We have been given a precious gift that we hold dear to our hearts. Franca Barsi’s mother is not so blessed. I can’t even imagine the heartache and grief she must be feeling at such a devastating loss. Your unbelievable insensitivity has only added to her pain.
To say you owe her and her family a public apology is an understatement.

These kids demonstrate a wonderful ability for leadership and focus in their lives.
I pray that the environment these kids are creating on their campus grows and the enthusiasm for life they display is contagious to all around them!
