Police search for leads in shooting
Hollister – Police are searching for suspects in a gang-related attempted murder this week in which a bullet narrowly missed two Hollister residents driving in their car.
Residents of a home in the 100 block of Locust Street called police after hearing a shot fired Tuesday shortly before 10pm, Hollister Police Capt. Richard Vasquez said. After stepping outside, the residents found the rear window of their car shattered.
Two of the residents then got into the car and were backing out of the driveway when they heard a second shot.
After hearing the second shot, the two residents drove off in the car – police do not know why – but returned to the home shortly thereafter, Vasquez said. Police arrived at the home minutes later, Vasquez said.
Although the motive behind the shooting is unclear, police are treating it as an attempted murder. Police believe the shooting was gang-related because they have been called to the home on previous occasions for gang-related activity.
Anyone with information may call Sgt. James Weathers at 636-4330.
