Violin and cellist players needed
Gilroy – The South Valley Symphony is in need of first and second violin players to participate in their upcoming concerts of April 2 and June 2 POPS concert which will be held at the Bonfante Gardens amphitheater according to Henry Mollicone conductor of the symphony. Additionally, we are also in dire need of viola and cellists to perform with the community orchestra according to Mollicone.
Now in its 32nd year of continuous operations, the symphony holds rehearsals Wednesdays at 7:30pm in band room B-7 at the Ascension Solorsano Middle School, 7121 Grenache Way.

Associates needed for Bonfante
Gilroy – Bonfante Gardens Family Theme Park will be accepting applications and conducting on-site interviews for the 2006 season during the park’s annual job fair Feb. 4 from 11am to 4pm. The job fair is open to both rehires and new applicants at least 15 years of age and older looking for seasonal employment at Bonfante Gardens.
Bonfante Gardens Family Theme Park will be hiring nearly 500 seasonal associates in a variety of departments including rides, food service, admissions, janitorial and merchandise. Interviews will be conducted on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Interested applicants should enter through Bonfante Gardens’ front entrance and follow the signs to the Events Plaza.

Free money for your neighborhood
Gilroy – A neighborhood grants information meeting will be held Tuesday, Feb. 7 from 6 to 7:30pm at the Gilroy Senior Center. Guest speaker will be Melissa Downey, Community Foundation Silicon Valley.
This once-yearly program is committed to the renewal of neighborhoods. It provides small grants of up to $5,000 and technical assistance to help resident based groups conduct activities that improve neighborhood conditions or address issues important to the quality of life.

Spaghetti dinner benefits GHS choirs
Gilroy – The Gilroy High School Choir will be hosting their annual Spaghetti Dinner on Wednesday, Feb. 8, from 5 to 8pm at the Brownell Middle School Gym. Cost is $5 for adults, $4 for children. Take-out available. All proceeds benefit the award-winning Gilroy High School Choirs.
South Valley Music Makers
Gilroy – South Valley Music Makers will hold its next bi-monthly meeting on Saturday, Feb. 11, from 1 to 4pm in the new studios of Monterey Street Music Academy, Trimble Hall of the United Methodist Church, 7600 Church St. All interested performers and listeners are welcome to join the friendly group of musicians and music-lovers to share a few hours of good music and good friendship. Players may perform in any style and on any instrument, including voice, and listeners are always welcome.

Bach to Blues tickets now on sale
Gilroy – Buy tickets now for the 2006 Bach to Blues concert at Gavilan College on Friday, Feb. 24 at 7:30pm. The concert is held each year to raise funds for music education at Gavilan College, and to showcase the talent of the Gavilan College Music Department. This year’s program features pianist Maria Amirkhanian, guitarist John Garcia, Art Juncker and the Gavilan Performance Ensemble, vocalist Sandra Marlowe, flamenco guitarist Alberto Marques, South Valley Symphony concert master Beverly Oliver-Blount, and Nate Pruitt & Primary Colors. Knights Crab Feed
Gilroy – The Knights of Columbus Council 2469 will host a Crab Feed at St. Mary’s Parish Hall on Saturday , Feb. 18. Happy Hour is at 6pm followed by the Crab Feed at 7pm. Food will be prepared by chef Joe Peralta and local group “The Corvairs” will provide music for dancing.
Proceeds from this event will benefit Knights of Columbus scholarships and other charitable activities. Tickets are $35 each and are available at the Parish Office at 55 First St. No tickets will be sold at the door.

Mama birds wanted
Morgan Hill – W.E.R.C., the Wildlife Education and Rehabilitation Center in Morgan Hill, is gearing up for the spring baby season. We are currently accepting applications for volunteers who are available to work during the morning.
Duties include cleaning, feeding, and caring for injured, orphaned and sick native wildlife. All volunteers are required to be at least 16 years old. Volunteers working a 3-hour shift, at least once a week and are asked to make a four-month commitment.
