Grant to help reduce wild fires
San Jose – The Santa Clara County Fire Safe Council will receive an $87,5000 federal grant for education programs to cut down on wild fires. The purpose of federal Fire Prevention and Safety Grants is to enhance the safety of the public and firefighters with respect to fire and fire-related hazards. The primary goal of the grants is to reach high-risk target groups in order to mitigate the high incidences of death and injuries.
Dual Immersion info meetings
Gilroy – Dual Language Immersion Program Info Meetings will be held in English on Thursday, March 2, from 9 to 10 am or 6 to 7 pm. Meetings conducted in Spanish will be held on Thursday, March 2, from 7 to 8pm, or on Friday, March 3, from 9 to 10am. Meetings take place at Las Animas School, 8450 Wren Ave., Room 8.

Gilroy – Ragtime piano duo performers Jack and Chris Bradshaw will be playing on the “Music Alive at Fourth and Church” series at the United Methodist Church in Gilroy, at 7pm Friday. Kindergarten registration begins

Morgan Hill – South Valley Civic Theatre is pleased to announce that local artists Diane Wallace and Sandra Marlowe will be participating in the opening night of its young performers’ production of ‘Narnia.’
Wallace will be exhibiting works throughout ‘Narnia’s’ four-week performance schedule.
Marlowe will be performing for the opening-night audience beginning at 7:30pm. Marlowe is a beloved entertainer that has been an audience favorite for a number of years. She is a featured artist at the ‘Bach to Blues’ festival.
Pianist, Marilyn Guerin, will be performing the ‘Narnia’ musical compositions for each of the 10 shows.
‘Narnia’ opens at the Morgan Hill Community Playhouse on March 17 and runs through April 8. Tickets are $15 for adults and $12 for students/seniors. Tickets will be available at the Gilroy Visitor’s Bureau, Morgan Hill Community Center and at Booksmart in Morgan Hill.
