– On Saturday, Kari Ann Moreno of Gilroy will vie for the title
of Miss Grand National, the queen of the 60th Grand National Rodeo
Horse and Stock Show.
GILROY – On Saturday, Kari Ann Moreno of Gilroy will vie for the title of Miss Grand National, the queen of the 60th Grand National Rodeo Horse and Stock Show.

Moreno has been riding horses for five years and has entered barrel racing and pole bending with the California High School Rodeo Association.

In addition to barrel racing, Moreno’s hobbies include basketball, biking and softball.

The rodeo takes place Oct. 29 through Nov. 7, at the Cow Palace in San Francisco. Music will be provided by Charles Daniels, Chris Ledoux and Reba McEntire.

At Saturday’s queen competition, candidates will have individual interviews with judges and later will ride their own horses around an arena at the Cow Palace to display their riding ability to the judges.

Saturday’s event is not open to the public.
