GILROY – From horses to hogs to Jaguars, more than 21 groups received honors for their entries in Gilroy’s Memorial Day Parade, held Monday morning.

Of the more than 90 entries that paraded down 10th Street towards Christmas Hill Park, the Vietnam Veterans Group won Best in Parade with “Together Then, Together Again.” The small group of Veterans walked the parade course carrying a sign identifying themselves.

Fire engines, vintage cars and even pedestrians all participated in the annual family event.

Jenny Belcher, the parade’s grand marshal, chose students from Antonio Del Buono’s Suzuki Violin Program – who played their instruments and wore matching red bandanas along the route – to receive the Grand Marshal’s Award.

City Councilman and Parade Chairman Craig Gartman awarded the Renaissance Faire entry the Chairman’s Award.

A group of Faire participants wore traditional renaissance garb for the parade and greeted onlookers.
