Gilroy – The Loco Boys captured the second-half Men’s DD League softball title Tuesday with a 14-5 victory over No Soup 4 You at Christmas Hill Park.
Alex Pena powered two home runs and Rich Hernandez went 4-for-4 as the Loco Boys moved to 5-0 and a two-game lead with one week left in the regular season. The Loco Boys will face either Bracco’s Towing or New Hope Community Church in the best 2-of-3 Championship Series in August.
Frank Navarrete managed a single and triple, scoring three runs for the Loco Boys. Dave Vera and Fausto Padilla each homered for the Soup. Joaquin Chacon and Kevin Gitmed each went 3-for-4.
Walton & Sons Masonry, the first-half Men’s E champion, prepped the playoffs by defeating the Dirty Dozen 16-5.
Albert Vega and Tim Graves each bagged an RBI-triple to highlight a seven-run fifth inning for Walton & Sons to break a 5-5 tie. Ian Hanley and Eric Wischmann each went 4-for-4 for Walton & Sons. Mikey Reggiardo, Joel Garcia and Dan Anglikowski each went 2-for-3 for the 3-2 Dozen.
Matt Elam slashed a three-run home run and Clark Poulsen hit a two-run triple in a three-hit effort as New Hope Community Church outlasted Pacific Coast Bail Bonds 14-3. Joel Gaeta launched a three-run homer for Pacific Coast.
Trevino Brothers Construction edged Louie & the Outlaws 10-8 behind a three-run Jeff Dougherty home run and a 3-for-3 performance from Rusty Trevino. June Vasquez and Kevin Jones stroked Outlaw home runs.
Kluck University, the second-half Women’s B champion, improved to 5-0 with a 14-2 decision over Don’s Vending Tuesday at Las Animas Park.
Elena Garcia provided three hits and scored three runs for Kluck. Melissa Howe drove in four Kluck runs. Liz Talavera led the Vendors with two doubles.
Williams Dental Lab, the first-half champion, fell 5-3 to Image & Design Salon & Day Spa-Guy’s Heating.
Caroline Martinez went 4-for-4 for Image-Guy’s, the first-half C champion. Barb Lemberger added two singles and a sacrifice fly. Rose Martinez and Emily Szyndrowski clubbed RBI-hits for Williams Dental Lab.
