Michael Guajardo, 28, who was baby-sitting the child at a home on the 9000 block of Kern Avenue, left the boy and provided the child’s name then left about 2:15 p.m., according to police. The hospital staff was able to provide a description of Guajardo and his vehicle. Police located Guajardo later that afternoon as he was driving back to the hospital with the child’s mother.
Guajardo, whom police described as a known gang member, told them the child was shot during a scuffle between him and a rival gang member. He was arrested on suspicion of felony child endangerment and violating parole.
