A jury found a Gilroy resident guilty of four counts of rape and domestic violence Friday, his 26th birthday. He’ll be at least 71 before he gets out of prison, and could spend the rest of his life there.

The jury convicted Gerardo Ceballos of two counts of forcible rape, one count of forced oral copulation and one count of domestic violence involving two different women – all felony charges. After serving 45 years of his life sentence, Ceballos will be eligible for parole, said Deputy District Attorney Stuart Scott.

Ceballos will be sentenced 9 a.m. Dec. 7 in Department 110 at the South County Courthouse in Morgan Hill. At that time, prosecutors will consider how to move forward with three other counts of rape, kidnapping and sodomy stemming from an incident with a third, juvenile victim, Scott said. The jury could not reach a verdict on these charges and a mistrial was declared.

“This guy was a first class predator,” Scott said. “He was the most dangerous kind because people have an idea of a rapist as this Quasimodo figure.”

Ceballos used his good looks and personality to get through his victims’ “first layer of defense,” Scott said. “One of the victims got into the backseat with him to smoke a cigarette and he raped her.”
