Crime in Gilroy

Gilroy Police officers and firefighter paramedics responded to an incident Sunday evening involving a “very agitated” man who was behaving erratically and began lining up his handguns inside his home and rifles outside his home near the corner of Wayland Lane and Welburn Avenue in Gilroy, according to GPD Sgt. Chad Gallaciano, who was on the scene at the time.
The man, whose age and identity were not disclosed by the GPD, was “in an emotional state,” according to Gallacinao. The man’s behavior prompted family members to phone GPD “regarding his actions,” Gallacinao said.
At least eight officers and seven squad cars along with two fire engines and an ambulance responded to the incident, according to witnesses at the scene.
“Whenever there are firearms involved, we have precautions that we set in place,” Gallacinao noted.
No one was hurt during the incident. The man did not make any threats to anyone and he was not arrested, according to GPD.
A couple neighbors in the area declined to comment on the incident.
