The Gilroy Police Department responded to an armed robbery that occurred at 3:57 p.m. Tuesday at the Chevron Gas Station, located at 401 Leavesley Road in Gilroy.
The suspect is described as a black male between the ages of 20 to 25 and measuring approximately six-foot-three-inches to six-foot-five-inches in height and weighing 180 pounds, according to a GPD press release. Authorities say the suspect had short cropped hair, was wearing prescription glasses, a gray camouflage T-shirt and blue jeans and was carrying an unknown make and model of black handgun.
According to police, the suspect entered the gas station and brandished his weapon at the lone employee, demanding money. The suspect gained access to the store’s cash register, fled the scene on foot and headed north on Murray Avenue with an undetermined amount of money. Multiple officers arrived at the scene shortly after the incident was reported. Authorities scoured the area, but were unable to locate the alleged culprit.
No injuries were reported during the robbery. One victim is cited in the report, described as a 20-year-old female and Gilroy resident. Police are withholding her identity.
