Margarita P. “Margie” Eclarin died suddenly at her Hollister residence Monday June 20, 2005. She was 74.
A native of Texas and a former resident of Arizona where she received her education, Mrs. Eclarin came to San Benito County at the age of 17. Her working career spanned 27 years as an operator at Gentry’s in Gilroy. She was a member of the Teamsters Local 890 of Salinas; the Filipino American Community of San Benito County and a member of Sacred Heart Church.
“She looked forward to family gatherings, being able to spend time with her children and grandchildren, preparing her favorite recipes for family and friends, and traveling to the casinos at Reno and Lake Tahoe,” her children said.
Mrs. Eclarin is survived by her children and their spouses, Mary Oteri and husband Jim of Gilroy, Linda Martinez and husband Manuel of Soquel, George P. Eclarin and wife Lupe of Hollister, Augie Eclarin and wife Leslie of Hollister, Ernie Eclarin and wife Shelly of Hollister, and John Eclarin and wife Dana of Hollister; grandchildren, Paul Diaz (Rita), Gina Rangel (Alex), Frank Eclarin, Nicole Sammut, Elias, Justin, Andrew, Megan and Trevor Eclarin all of Hollister, Mackenzie Martinez of Soquel, George III, Marc, and Javier Eclarin of Las Vegas, Augie Eclarin Jr. (Kathy) of San Diego, Greg Eclarin of N.C., and Elisa Jackson (Derek) of Maryland; 13 great-grandchildren; sisters, Lily Gomez of Mississippi and Josefina Medina of San Jose; and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Eclarin was the spouse of the late George A. Eclarin who passed away July 1990 and the mother of the late Susan and Juanita Eclarin.
Visitation will begin at 10am Friday, June 24, 2005 at the chapel of the Grunnagle Ament Nelson Funeral Home 870 San Benito St., Hollister. The recitation of the rosary is Friday evening at 7pm.
Family and friends will leave the mortuary Saturday morning at 11:30am to celebrate Mass of The Resurrection at Sacred Heart Church beginning at noon.
Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
Donations are preferred to Cerebral Palsy Foundation c/o the mortuary chapel.
